NOTE: This is not an OG Kush Clone
So here is Master Thai’s ’82 Tahoe OG, or as he calls it, The REAL Tahoe OG. Now, we have no doubt this post is gonna ruffle a few feathers, so please remember we’re just using the info we have. Anyone who knows Thai knows he was very secretive about the genetic makeup of his strains, so much so that he often contradicted himself. So we’re using Seedfinder and our last correspondence with Thai before he passed (around 2019).
These are Thai’s words taken from last emails he sent us…
– “THIS IS THE first and original never released in its 1982 history always privately grown in the Local Tahoe and High Sierras /shared only by cuts to others for years! Always organic, Tahoe OG or just ‘Blue’ in 1982, grows fast good in the cold down to 33 degrees!!! It turns blue/purple then too.
– “So the Tahoe Blue / OG it purely 100% Lake Tahoe California grown, from small producers of the old school growers of the gold rush towns of El Dorado County. This is an original Real McCoy – Real Tahoe Indica (aka; Tahoe OG). Since 1982, only grown here from seeds from Master Thai in the High Sierras and El Dorado foothills. A classic old school seed”.
– “Please understand this, OG Kush was never used in the Real Tahoe OG. OG always be the word “Original” or “Organic” and “G” is “Grown meaning first seeds”. Original/Organic Grown = OG here. Tahoe will finish at 50 days to 55 late and fruity in flavours. NOT lemon fuel or finish at 70 days thats ridiculous!!”
As I said, he was pretty out spoken, but this defiantly isn’t a traditional ‘fuel’ OG.
Thai’s Tahoe OG produces short / squat indicas, that are easy to grow in any environment. Structure is similar to our resent PAK repopulation, bushy indicas that produce an insane amount of sticky resin. They grow slow in veg, and stretch a little at the beginning of flower before fattening up. These pictures were taken on day 55 of flower so you can see exactly what you get. Thai’s recommendation of 45-55 days of flower (stated on the original pack) seems a bit optimistic.
During flower we recommend you defoliate a small amount, but DON’T remove those big fan leaves. In a small grow environment keep the overhead lamp reasonably close, 1ft is fine, but keep a good distance between plants to ensure resin production on those middle and lower branches. Bunching plants together will make some nice colas, but your over yields will suffer.
When it comes to aroma / yields, these plants excel. Every plant puts out fruity / putrid funk, that lingers in the air. No GAS, lemon / citrus, or bubblegum, just STRONG fruity funk. Resin is epic, just look at the pictures. These plants are ridiculously sticky, SOOOOOOOOOO STICKY that you don’t wanna be handling these without gloves. Buds grow all the way up each branch so getting light down and in-between the heavy foliage is key.
