The IBL produces a number of phenos, the most common being selection one, the classic squat indica. These short, stocky plants put out minimal side-branching, and are tightly wrapped in a heavy layer of foliage. The flowers grow in a solid mass along each branch, but more so around the central stem.
The flowers at the tips of each branch break through the leaves, creating a thick mass of resin soaked buds right up the central stem. They remain dense but super squidgy throughout blossom, finishing around week 9. Some phenos go even earlier, so it’s worth keeping an eye out for them too. Most of these plants go purple throughout flower, but some stay green too.
Aroma is classic Afghan musk / sweat / body oder – pretty foul as you can imagine. We noticed that the darker phenos tend to be much more pungent than the greener ones. These plants can really stink up your grow space so carbon filers at the ready.
Once finished she can be ‘full-plant’ dry hung for around 20 days for an awesome dreamy effect. After that she just gets better and better. She’s been a stable in our garden for years, and will continue to be part of our breeding work into the future.

IBL SELECTIONS ‘DARK PURPLE / BLACK CABBAGE PHENO’
This girl was the stinkiest of all the selections we found. Her structure is identical to selection one, it’s her flowers that really look different. If you look at a lot of pure Afghan’s online you’ll notice some have these ugly ‘cabbage’ buds. Layers of overlapping leaves create a mass of foliage that wraps itself around the main stem.
While this doesn’t sound particularly appealing this pheno puts out a serious amount of resin, making it perfect for ha$h production. To be honest, all of the phenos mentioned here would work very well in this sense, something to bare in mind..

PURPLE AFGHAN KUSH IBL SELECTIONS ‘LIME GREEN’ PHENO
Our last selection was a nice surprise. She looked different as she went into flower, and was the slowest of the bunch when it came to chop day. This girl can take 10-12 weeks depending on how far you wanna push her.
She stays light green throughout flower, going slightly darker towards the final weeks. Cold air makes no difference, she will remain green whatever you throw at her. Her structure puts her somewhere in-between the classic squat indica, but with more side-branching. She remains short and has also inherited the thick leafy facade of her sisters.
Like the other girls, she puts out INSANE resin, and an aroma to boot. The musk is gone, and has now been replaced with a very pungent acidic lime, sour lemon funk. Sour D fans are gonna really dig this pheno.
